At first I was afraid…

IGNITE MINNEAPOLIS! Hats off to the mighty planner, Patrick Kuntz, for organizing this event the second time in a row for our community. And thank you to everyone who attended and made it a really rocking night – presenters and guests alike.

When it came to the close of my presentation, I’m sorry my technical plans didn’t work out. My nano was loaded up with the karaoke version of Gloria Gaynor’s awesome song, and I really REALLY wanted to get that piano introduction. But time was a-ticking away and it just wasn’t happening, so instead you got the a cappella version.

Here’s the real song, with some truly groovy rollerskating. Watch it once, you’ll be singing it all day.

Next, in case you didn’t catch my revised lyrics last night – here they are. Sing them loud and proud — you know who you are! And trust me, you definitely WILL survive. :)

“I will survive!”
Kim’s theme song for freelance life

At first I was afraid.
I was petrified.
Kept thinking I could never live without the agency by my side.

But then I spent so many nights
working HARD and working LONG
and I thought… Screw this! I’ve had it in me all along….

And so I left!
Walked out the door!
Won’t turn around!
I won’t look back there anymore —

Oh sure, it’s NICE to have insurance
but I want MORE! And so I’m standing here to say–

that I survived!
I did survive!
Oh, as long as I love what I do, I know I’ll be alive,
I’ve got all my life to live,
I’ve got all my love to give,
and I’ll survive.
I will survive.
And so will you – if you just get the hell out.

next up: link to slide presentation with the resources I shared.
